Ish Girl: One who has humorous grace with herself when discovering she's messed up or flaked out. Again.
Hey there and
Welcome!
I’m Amy, aka The Ish Girl, and I’m thrilled that you’re here – because if you’ve landed on this page, it means
you have a passion for the students in your life,
and
you want to impact them in positive ways.
But often, that’s easier said than done. Between the meeting you have this afternoon, that stack of papers you still have to grade, and the materials to prep for tomorrow, it feels like you’re always a step behind.
You struggle to connect with your students because there’s never enough time for all. the. things.
The Struggle Is Real
Off to a Running Start
As a new educator, the overwhelm can be soul-crushing.
If you’re like I was as a beginning teacher,
you may have imposter syndrome –
you don’t feel like you’re a “real” teacher yet.
You may not know what (or how!) to
prioritize your to-do list, and let’s face it: it’s a little
intimidating to ask those veteran teachers for help.
Especially when they have to do all the stuff
for their own classrooms, too. And that doesn’t even
include figuring out a classroom management plan, or
knowing the best way to handle a student who acts out!
Throw in the stress of prepping for meet-the-teacher night,
and the fact that you haven’t had time for lunch
in the past three days, and it all adds up.
I’m here to reassure you that you have what it takes to do this.
But here’s the thing: YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!.
Unlike those who think you have to go through the
“school of hard knocks” to become a great teacher,
I firmly believe that if you have
the right road map and a tribe,
you’ll get to your destination faster –
becoming an amazing, connected teacher.
The kind your students will remember.
